Happy Friday!

Hello!  I know I say this every time, but...Wow, it's been a while!

Turns out I did have plans for the 4th of July.  I went over to my Aunt's house for a BBQ and Daiquiris. It was a lot of fun.  Personally, we didn't go find fireworks, but on the drive home we saw A LOT.  I haven't spent the 4th of July in my Aunt's town in a long time, so I didn't remember how they treated fireworks and the people who were viewing them...There were SO MANY people in the streets and in the way, it was so ridiculous and to be honest, a little dangerous.  Like there were children sitting on the edge of the sidewalks with their feet in the street, where cars are trying to get out, I didn't like it at all.  I'm from a small town, where there is one place people gather to see fireworks, and that's a big farm.  We don't have people in the middle of main streets.  (Neighborhoods are a different story.)

I also finished the 6th and 7th Harry Potter books.  Before July ended!  I was worried that I wasn't going to, but I just decided to make time for them.  Which I really should do all the time, but I just sometimes don't.  I loved the series (obviously) and I hate that I've finished them...Does anyone else get like that?  I really wanted to read them forever!  Now I'm reading two different books, one will get a full review next Friday, so be on the look out for that!

Now, some diet talk.  Still on one.  I've decided 100% I'm going to start working out in August.  I think my body has hit a plateau, and I'm not going to lose anymore weight without working out.  I should have been working out from the beginning, but I've never liked working out, and I just didn't have that push, but now I feel as if I really need it.  Is that weird to say?  I really want to workout.  I don't really have a set routine, but I'll work on that.

Now about my post schedules...Last year I found a groove I really liked with my posts.  I barely missed days once I really found what I liked, and I wish I could say the same about this year.  But this year has been hard for me.  I've had personal issues, I've had some family things going on, and I've had a sick cat. (All things I'm not comfortable with posting about.)  So I've been a little bit stressed, and I just haven't felt well enough to write even the simplest of posts that I make.  Things are still stressful, but I really like this blog, and I hate when I don't publish anything.

Now, I think I've covered everything!
I've got a lot of beauty products lined up and lots of different recipes I really want to try, so everything should be gold for the rest of the year, as long as things keep going up!

What do you do when you stressed out?

Recipe: Broccoli, Brie, and Walnut Rotini:

I found this recipe on Pinterest.  I thought that I had found it under a low-calorie post, but it really wasn't (around 400).   I also didn't really like it.  My mom loved it.  It was also really easy to make.  I think I would have liked it a lot better without the walnuts and if I had used a different kind of cheese.  Normally I love Brie, as you can see in the picture above, it's already been snacked on (thanks to me.)  So I really don't know why I didn't love this dish, but it was a nice one pan recipe.
Let me know if you try it and what you think about it!

Ingredients:
4 oz Whole Wheat Rotini
1 Medium head of Broccoli,  cut into florets
2 oz Brie, cut into bite size chunks
2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 oz Toasted Walnuts, chopped

Directions:

Cook Pasta. While the pasta is cooking chop up the broccoli and brie.  Set aside.
When the pasta is four minutes away from being completely cooked, add in the broccoli.
Once the pasta and broccoli are fully cooked, drain the water.  Place the brie in a bowl, and top with the pasta.  Toss the ingredients around so that the brie starts to melt.  Drizzle 1 Tbsp of olive oil over each dish, tossing again so that it spreads evenly.

Top each bowl with walnuts and serve!

This recipe makes two dishes.

Enjoy!

Batiste Dry Shampoo:

I don't know if Sauve decided to stop making the dry shampoo that I really love, or if it's just not sold around me anymore.  All I know is that I can't find it anymore, so I have had to go out and find a new favorite.  The first I decided to try was Batiste.

I'm really glad that I did.

I got two different scents: Fruity & Cheeky Cherry and Coconut & Exotic Tropical.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like either scents.  I typically like cherry, and I typically like tropical, but sometimes they're just not made right, this time they were.   The Coconut & Exotic Tropical smells mostly of coconut, and a little bit of sun cream.  The smell fades, and by the end of the day you can hardly smell the coconut mix.

The Fruity & Cheeky Cherry is my favorite of the two.  It's sweet, but not sickly sweet.  When I smell it I don't smell cherry, but I do smell fruity.  The smell of this one also fades, but a sweet smell is still around by the end of the day.

For dry shampoos, these are definitely at the top of my list.  They work really well.  My hair feels refreshed and very soft after using them.  I've had some dry shampoos where I don't want to touch my hair after using and some where I have to still put my hair up after using, but with Batiste, I can do what ever I want and my hair still looks great.

My only problem, which isn't really a problem, is that I have to spend a whole extra minute blending the powder into my hair.  (I know so terrible! *sarcasm*)  It's just a little extra brushing in the morning.  They sell one for dark hair, I just don't know the scent that comes with it.

I paid around $6.99 for each of them.

Pros: smell great, great price, works really well
Cons: A tiny bit more effort to blend in.

100% would recommend and I will definitely be buying again.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick Review:

Shade: 875 Gladiolus

I'm not sure what to call this lipstick.  It's not matte, it's not high shine, it's in the middle.  Does that have a name I don't know about?  I'm sure it does and I'm just really clueless.   Well, whatever the name is, this lipstick is really nice.  There are small things that I would change, but we'll get to that.

The perks of this lipstick is that it's wax-free.  On the website it says that it goes on in one smooth swipe, and that's very true, it also says that it doesn't have a heavy feel, and that is very true also.  I can barely feel this lipstick when I'm wearing it.  It's perfect.  My biggest issue, is the size/shape of the lipstick.  It's very wide.  When applying it, I usually end up getting it on my face.

The next thing that I would change about it is the smell.  It's like a weird citrus smell.  It doesn't typically stay, but I can taste it when I lick my lips.  It's sweet tasting, with a after taste of something, maybe light peach...

Then the last thing I would change is the packaging.  Like I said the shape is odd, and every single time I put the lid back on I hit the lipstick on the side making a messy tube.

Other than those three things, I love this lipstick.  It light, smooth, goes on quickly. It's long lasting, without eating it lasts a good three hours.  It also has really nice colors. I plan on getting more in the future.

Pros: Light, smooth, long lasting, pretty, stays out of the little lip cracks
Cons: wide, smell

Do you have any of these lipsticks from Revlon?  Do you like them? Let me know!

Mixed Drink: Red White and Blue Shot

This is a shot that I made a lot during the 4th of July.  It's supposed to be a red, white, and blue drink but I don't know if that is supposed to be layered or not.  I did't make it layered so the color of the drink was purplish black, but the taste, the taste was amazing!  It's a very sweet shot, but it does the trick.

Ingredients:

1 oz Blue Curacao

1 oz Vodka
1/2 oz grenadine

Directions:

Put the blue Curacao and vodka into a shaker, shake.
Put into shot glass and top off with grenadine.

Enjoy!

MUA Review:

I recently discovered that CVS now sells MUA.  I don't know how they've been selling the line, so it's very new to me.  There isn't much of a selection.  They have a few different lipsticks, lip glosses, lip liners, lashes, and brushes.  I'm assuming the line has more, I mean it is called Make-up Academy...

I decided on three things; a anti-feathering lip liner, a lip scrub, and a lipstick.

Lip Scrub:
I've never made my own lip scrub, nor have I ever tried one.  I picked this one up for convenience.  There's not much to it really. It barely tastes like mint.  It's more petroleum jelly tasting than anything.  There's also not much sugar to it.  Sugar does come out, but I have to use more than I thought I would to make it feel like it's exfoliating anything.  I did read somewhere that it's not very moisturizing, but I think it's fine in that department.  I don't have to put on a Chapstick after I use it.  I probably won't buy another one. I've also discovered, after having it for a few months, that it separates.  I tried to use it the other day, and only oil came out.  I had to shake it to mix it up again.
  It cost around $5.

Pros: convenient, exfoliates, moisturizes
Cons: not much sugar, tastes a little odd

Lipstick:
#230 Coral

When I first tried this lipstick, I didn't like it.  I wasn't sure what I was going for when I picked it up.  It didn't specifically say that it was a high shine lipstick, but it's pretty shiny.  The reasoning behind me not liking it at first is the staying power...It barely has any.  Because of this,  I have rarely worn it.  It's a really pretty color though!
It also smells like candy.  The smell is just while it's in the tube, and I don't notice it the second it goes onto my lips, but while it's in the tube, it's a pretty strong sweet smell, and I'm not sure if I like it.

Pros: pretty color, different to my other lipsticks
Cons: smell, staying power

Lip Liner:
Clear

I tried this lip liner under a lipstick that I absolutely hate.  It's called anti-feathering, so I thought that it would help it out, I was so wrong.  The lipstick still dried out my lips.  It still pills on my lips, and it still settled into the cracks.
When I used it under a better lipstick it didn't do much.  Like any other time I have used a lip liner, I felt like my lipstick faded faster than if I use it alone.

Pros: I don't really see any
Cons: Didn't work for me.

In the end, I don't know if I'll buy more.  I do have one other lipstick that I have yet to try, and I'm pretty sure that one is a matte and maybe I'll like it better.  Who knows...That review will be coming eventually.   I also think that I paid way too much for these three products.  When I looked online to see if I had bought a high shine lipstick, it said that the lipstick was only 1 euro, which roughly translates to two dollars...I think I paid around 4 to 5 dollars.

Do you like MUA? Let me know!

Happy Friday!

Hello!  Happy Friday to you!  I know that I"ve been a little MIA recently so I'm here to explain a little bit.

Last week I only posted once, and that's because I got really sick the next day, and instead of having my blog post ready like I should have, I didn't.  So, Wednesday and Friday of last week were duds.  I've also been missing a lot of Friday posts.  Mostly because I really haven't been wanting to post FOTD.  I mentioned this in my last Happy Friday post.  I guess I should fill in my FOTD posts spot, but I don't really want to.

I just checked, and WOW it has been a long time since I didn't a Happy Friday!  Over a month now, and that is ridiculous!

I'm still counting calories, and my clothes are starting to fit differently, but being the only vegetarian in the house is really hard, same goes for eating meat only once a week.  I'm still working towards a healthy lifestyle.  I'm really slow with change...That's something really annoying about me.  Eventually, I want to eat less meat, but currently that isn't happening.  I eat meat for dinner, and usually have some sort of meat for lunch.  But I'm all about portion control and less sugar.  I stay away from all of the desserts, or at least I try.  Again, something really hard to do when your house is full of cookies and brownies.  Most of the time I can stop myself, but other times, I cave.  Luckily, I haven't over eaten yet.

Enough about my diet, now!  I said last time that I would be finished with the Harry Potter books by the end of June...and I'm not.  I'm still reading the sixth one, but I'm more than halfway through it!  Soon I will be starting the seventh, and hopefully I can finish that one by the end of July, but lets face it, I don't think I'll do that.  I'm already thinking about which book to read after I'm done with the Harry Potter series, and I'm leaning towards Beaches or One Day.  I'll write about them when I get there!

Tomorrow is July 4th! Woohoo!  A typically fun holiday full of fireworks and BBQs and stuff, but I'm not going to be doing that.  My friends don't typically like getting together on holidays and my family only gets together for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  So, I'll be with my mom and sister.  I don't think we'll be doing anything too crazy.   (Want to know what I did last 4th of July? Check it out, here!)

I lead such a thrilling life!  Haha.

What are you doing for the 4th?  Let me know!

Skinny Pizza Pasta Casserole:

This is another recipe I found on Pinterest.  I didn't use ground beef, I used a meatless version from morning star, but I think the recipe would have been better if I had used real meat.  The Morning Star crumbs didn't stay together, and it made the dish a little weird in texture.
The dish is really good. A lot better than I expected it was going to be.  I tried whole wheat pasta a long time ago and didn't like it, but I really liked it in this dish.  This recipe serves eight, but either I want eating a full serving, or it made a lot more.  I will totally make this did again, so good and filling!

Ingredients:
8oz Whole Wheat Pasta
1lb Ground Beef, or a whole bag of Morning Star Crumbs.
1/2 cup Baby Bella Mushrooms
1 Jar of Light Tomato Sauce
1 cup Low-Moisture, Part Skim, Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
2 1/2 oz Turkey Sausage

Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook pasta.

While the pasta is cooking, in a large skillet brown the ground beef  on medium high heat for about 10 minutes. Then drain the liquid and set the beef aside.
(I sautéed the mushrooms first, then added the Morning Star Crumbs.)
Next sauté the mushrooms. After a few minutes, put the ground beef back into the skillet.

Stir in the pasta sauce on top.

After the sauce warms up, about a minute, add the pasta to the pan and mix.

Next transfer the mix to a greased 9x13inch baking dish.

Sprinkle the cheese on top and place the turkey pepperoni on top.
Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes.

Enjoy!
