Recipe: Red Velvet Oreo Truffles

This is another recipe that I found in my local news paper that was being advertised for Valentine's Day.  I've made Oreo truffles before, here, but this recipe was a little bit different.  It uses less cream cheese.  But they're still really tasty, and simple to make.  Below I have the recipe that was in the newspaper, but I used an extra oz of cream cheese, and I had to used 2 extra oz of the white chocolate.

Ingredients:
18 Red Velvet Oreo Cookies
3 oz Philadelphia Cream Cheese
6 oz Baker's White Chocolate
2 oz Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Directions:

Crush up the red velvet Oreo's with the cream cheese.  It's easiest to use the back of a spoon.

Next roll the Oreo cream cheese mix into 20 1 in balls, and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Then put them into the freezer for 10 minutes.

While the balls are in the freezer, melt the white chocolate in the microwave.

Take the balls out of the freezer.  Roll one ball at a time in the white chocolate mix and place back onto the baking sheet.

When the white chocolate has firmed up, melt the 2 oz of semi-sweet chocolate, place in a plastic bag, cut the corner of the bag, and then drizzle the chocolate all over the balls.

Keep in the fridge until ready to eat.

Enjoy!

Wet n' Wild Lipstick Review:

Today I have two new Wet n' Wild lipsticks, that I am totally in love with!  I think about a year ago I reviewed two other Wet n' Wild lipsticks, and I said I didn't like them.  But since then I've really gotten into wearing lipstick regularly, and I've just adapted to their "difficulties."  I was really harsh to them, saying that I was worried that they weren't staying on and that the darker one stained the area around my lips.  I'm MUCH better with lipstick now, and I think the reason why I was so worried about it being down my face was because I wasn't careful with my mouth.  Plus I have this habit of rubbing my lips together.

Now, I'm not going to lie, it was advertised in the store that they lasted four hours, they don't.  I've gone out and had a few drinks and had to re-apply to where the straw had been on my lips, but other than that I really like these lipsticks.  I wear "Wine Room" all of the time, and ever since I bought it, I've been leaning towards "Stoplight Red" a lot.

Now, on to the actual colors in these pictures...The first is a lovely purple color called "Sugar Plum Fairy."  I really like the dark purple/ dark red lip look, but I'm still a litte shy.  They're not as true on my hand as they are on my lips so I'll post two pictures to my Instagram of me wearing them. (It's dark out, I can't snap pics yet.)  It's my second purple lipstick, and I love it!

The next color is called "Stoplight Red."  And as I said above, I've been reaching for it when ever I go out.  It's a very  bright red.  I'd call it a pure red, but my sister wouldn't.  I haven't noticed if it goes pink or not.  Some of my other lipsticks will turn more pink, but I think this red stays red.  Funny story (to me), I went out to dinner and wore this lipstick, and I usually, to be cautious, take my lipstick off with the napkin, but this place has cloth napkins, and I wasn't about to rub lipstick all over it.  So, I ate very cautiously, and it stuck pretty well.  But there was this older man staring at me the whole time.  I guess he thought I was eating funny, I don't really know.  But I can at least tell you, that if you're careful, this lipstick will stay on through dinner.  Haha.

Anyways, I'm sad that I gave such a bad review at first, Wet n' Wild lipsticks are amazing.  I love, love, love, them!

Recipe: Hershey Truffles

Today's recipe is one that I got out of my local newspaper! It's pretty easy, but you need a little bit more time if you want to make them.  They are really tasty and perfect for Valentine's Day! (Which is what they were advertised for.)  The recipe below makes 10.

Ingredients:
28 Milk Chocolate Hershey Kisses
10 Caramel Hershey Kisses
2 Tbsp & 2 tsp Heavy Whipping Cream
1 cup Ground Pecans

Directions:

Put the 28 milk chocolate Hershey kisses into a microwave safe bowl.  Add in the 2 Tbsp & 2 tsp of heavy whipping cream.

Put your microwave at 50% power and melt the chocolate milk mix for 1 minute, or until smooth.

Then put it in the fridge for 4 to 6 hours, or until firm.  ( I let the chocolate set over night, but I'm sure 4 hours is plenty of time. )
Just a caution, use exactly that much milk, I went a little over and it wouldn't firm up properly.  If you do use too much milk, add in a few extra kisses.

Put 1 cup of pecans into a bowl.

After your chocolate is firm, take about a tablespoon flatten it out a bit, and then wrap it around one of the caramel kisses.

Then roll it into a ball, roll it in the pecans, and place on a plate.

Keep them in the fridge until you're ready to serve them up.

Enjoy!

theBalm 'Read My Lips' Lip Gloss Review:

We all know that Khols is my favorite store.  It has a little bit of everything, including make-up.  A little while ago, I was in the store, and I saw some really cute lip glosses. Their packaging is super cute.  I liked so many of the colors, but I decided to go with Zaap! because it seemed like one that I could pair with my everyday.  Zaap!  is a nice pink color with a little bit of shimmer to it, but I've never really noticed the shimmer while wearing it.  It's pretty long lasting for a lip gloss and it's not very sticky.  It feels a little heavy when first applied, but the longer you wear it, the more normal it feels.  Almost like there is nothing there.  Looking up the lip gloss online, they're picture is not very true to color.  So, if you're interested, see if you can go into a store and swatch them yourselves.

I paid $15.00 for this one tube of lip gloss, which I feel is a little pricy, but it is a nice product. The box is really cute, and I know other products from this line are very nice.  The tube itself is plastic, and the top of the applicator is actually metal.  The gloss itself smells very fruity. I love it, but I know some don't.
Like I said above, I use this lip gloss as a go to when I'm just throwing on some make-up to go out to dinner.  Lip gloss doesn't look as bad rubbed off as lipstick would after eating.  In the future I plan on buying a few other colors.

Have you ever thought about theBalm make-up line?  Let me know what you've tried!

I am wearing this lip gloss in this FOTD.
