Happy Friday!

I know my Friday posts have been lacking.  I have some archived FOTD's but currently I don't feel like using them. I don't know when I'll resume my FOTD posts, I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later, but who knows currently.  I love FOTD's, I like make-up, but with me, I get repetitive.  I'm sure it looks like I only own three shirts.

Last time in my Friday post, I talked about how I switched to a vegetarian diet with eggs, but now only two weeks later (I was a true vegetarian for a month) I've decided to have one meat day. (Birds only.)  For the first week I felt great, but then slowly, I just didn't feel like myself, and now that I have one meat day, I feel a lot better.  I'm still counting my calories, and trying to be healthy.

I also started and finished Sons of Anarchy.  I really liked it, until the last season.  I felt like it was just too repetitive. But looking back, I guess the whole show is kind of repetitive. But I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I'm not really sure who my favorite character is.  I really liked Bobby, Chibs, and Juice.  I liked Jax too, but since he was the focus character, I don't want to put him as my favorite.  I also really liked Unser.

I'm still reading Harry Potter.  I'm on the sixth book, and I've slowed down my reading so much that my total now equals a book a month.  I really like reading.  I've just been in a mood.  But I'll finish the sixth on and start the seventh before June is over.  Then I have no idea what to read next.  I have lots of books, (Did I ever do a haul on my Christmas books?  I'm sure I did...) I just don't know where ot start next.

I can't believe that May is practically over, I hate how fast time goes!  Ahh!

Anyways, I hope May has been good to you!

Recipe: Cherry Waffles

This is another recipe from this ebook.  I wasn’t sure I was going to like them, but turns out I LOVE them!  They’re really filling.  I usually hate making waffles.  There is so much to clean up afterwards, and until I tried this recipe, I had never made waffles before.  This recipe makes six Belgian waffles and I got four or five sheets of waffles on my iron.  I make this recipe all the time now!  The cherry sauce is a little odd, but it adds just the right amount of sweet to it.  It goes so well with the whole wheat waffles.

Cherry Sauce:
2 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries
1/4 cup Water
1/4 cup Honey
2 tsp Cornstarch
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Lemon Juice

Waffles:
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
2 large Eggs
2 cups Low-fat Buttermilk
1/2 cup fine Cornmeal
1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
1 tbsp. Canola Oil
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt

Directions:

Heat up a waffle maker.
Put all of the cherry sauce ingredients into a sauce pan and heat up on medium heat.  Bring to a boil and then turn down the heat to low and let simmer.

Next in a bowl combine all of the dry ingredients, mix.  In a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients.  Combine the mixes.

After your waffle iron is ready, add enough mix to cover the surface (all waffle irons are different)  and fully cook.

Serve the waffles with some cherry sauce on them and enjoy!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream Moisturizer:

A little while ago, I think about a month, I went looking for a new moisturizer. I didn't actually need a new one, but I felt like a little change. I'm so glad I did!

This moisturizer is amazing!  I was expecting something that was heavy or sticky and this is neither.  It goes on easily and it absorbed into my skin in seconds.  I don't have dry spots anymore.  Plus, my favorite thing about it, it makes my skin super soft, like the softest it has ever been!  It smells really nice.  It doesn't have a specific smell, but it smells like a moisturizer, if that makes sense.  I really like it.
I'm not one to keep up with my moisturizers.  I have lots, and I like them all, I just don't find the time to use them.  But with this one, I use it pretty much every day.
I love this moisturizer so much that as soon as I heard dry skin come out of my sisters mouth I made her buy it.  She's been using it for about two weeks now and her skin has improved so much.  There are still some dry patches, but they'll be gone soon.

My only issue with the moisturizer is that it ha no SPF, but I'm assuming that's why it's not heavy and sticky.  So I just go over it with another SPF infused product.

When I bought this moisturizer is was $17 and some change, probably closer to $18.  It's totally worth it!
This moisturizer is oil free, fragrance free, and dye free.  The packaging is all plastic, and a really pretty blue.  (In my opinion.)  It's kind of bulky, so I wouldn't call it travel friendly, but it will fit if need be.

If you're looking for a new moisturizer, and have $18 to spare, I would definitely buy this one!

Pros: Light, absorbs easily, works very well, super moisturizing.
Cons: No SPF, price.

Recipe: Avocado Banana Smoothie

This recipe is one of the recipes in the vegetarian ebook I reviewed here.  This recipe makes one glass that’s around 12 oz.   I put mine into the fridge while I’m cleaning up, because it’s not as cold as I would like it to be, but I’m sure you could put a frozen banana into it or maybe an ice cube.  If you leave it for too long, the green color will become greenish brown.  It’s still find to drink though.   I really like this smoothie,  it’s sweet and creamy.  It also fills me up for a while.

Ingredients:
1/2 Banana
1/2 Avocado
1 cup Almond Milk
2 Dates
1 Tbsp Grounded Flaxseed
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
A sprinkle of Cinnamon

Directions:

Cut a banana in half, then slice it up.  Put into blended.  Cut an avocado in half, then slice (or cube) it up.  Put into blended.  Cut up the dates, and then add.  I had to cut them up, and even put them through a food processor before my smoothie wasn’t chunky.  My blender isn’t very nice.  Then add the grounded flaxseed, maple syrup, and cinnamon.  After that is all in, add the milk.

Blend until smooth.

Enjoy!

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick #104:

I'm just going to start this post off by saying I love Rimmel London.  I have so many lip products from them, including two from the Kate Moss line.  Now I have a third, color 104.

I wasn't 100% on this color.  I picked it up because it looked nice and I didn't have a color like it yet. But when I put it on I noticed that it's really close to my natural lip color, so of course I love it on me.  I call it a dusty rose, my mom calls it a pink berry.  Both are very accurate.

I'm assuming that it's matte.  My other two Kate Moss lipsticks are, but this one doesn't feel like a matte lipstick until I've had it on for an hour or so.  Without eating or drinking 104 lasts about four hours.  I'm sure it would last all day, but I've got a bad habit of rubbing my lips together.

I think one of my favorite things about the Kate Moss lipsticks is the smell.  They're fruity instead of sweet.   They're also highly pigmented and last for hours.

What is you favorite Kate Moss lipstick?  Let me know!

Happy Friday!

Last week I posted an ebook review instead of a little update, so this week instead of a FOTD, I'm going to give a little update.

If you read last weeks post, on the ebook, then you'll know that I've decided to become a vegetarian.  But, I can't actually say I'm 100% vegetarian because I do still eat eggs.  I really, really, love eggs.  I also sometimes have real cheese but, mostly, I eat vegan cheese.  So I would be put into the ovo-vegetarian section.

It's been about four weeks (on Monday) since I've changed the way I eat.  I'm eating smaller portions, I'm eating a little bit healthier (I still eat frozen meals, but they're organic, that's good right?!)  and I feel better.  I have lost some weight, and soon, I'm going to start working out.  I have also cut out soda (I only drank diet) and I'm not eating as much sugar.

When it comes to dieting and food, I never want anyone to know about it.  I don't want my friends to know I'm eating different, because I don't want them to make comments, and they will.  Same with my family (besides my mom and sister.)  So, recently with I've had a bunch of things happen, where cake, doughnuts, and pasta, were involved.  So, in the past week I've had processed foods, and lots of sugar.

My body didn't have a problem stopping, but now after I have eaten some bad foods, I've been craving it more.  And even worse, my birthday is coming up, and I'm not skipping my favorite meal of the year, just because of my birthday.
This meal includes chicken and shrimp.  Then I'm back on the straight an narrow.

Wow, that is a lot about my diet.  I guess that's because my life is currently that.

So, what does this mean for my recipe posts?  They'll be changing.  I do have a few recipes that have meat in them on my pinterest, so I'll make them and my family can try them an tell me all about them.  Or I'll leave out the meat, and tweak it.

I will also keep talking about my food journey, along with everything else going on in my life.

So, back to my social life!!

Last saturday, was my friends bridal shower.  I won the triva game about her. And we did toilet paper wedding gowns and bridal bingo, and guess when she'll get pregnant.  I guessed this month.  Just because.  It was a fun time.  I didn't bring my camera, because I was going to do wedding pictures, but unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the wedding.  Her wedding was on the 4th and it had a Star Wars theme to it.  Her and her husband treated everyone to lunch at a cool looking place that has lots of different and interesting burgers.   ( I looked up the place online, and saw lots of pictures!)  Then instead of having a wedding cake, they had doughnuts, all designed around Star Wars.  A different friend who lives close by came over after the wedding and delivered them to us.

Then last Sunday, my Aunts came over for one of their birthdays and we had lunch, Chicken Pasta and Caesar Salad, with cake and ice cream for dessert.  They're coming back over in a week or two to have lunch again.  I have a feeling they'll be over a lot this summer.

Then, this Sunday is my Birthday! I'm turning 23.  Today, I'm having my birthday dinner and then on my actual birthday I'll being having drinks.  Pretty much the norm.  Haha.  I'll have updates about my b-day in two weeks.  =)

If you made it this far tell me about your birthday!  Also, have you ever been to a bridal shower?  Tell me about the games and activites you played!

Recipe: Baked Ravioli

I made this dish for dinner a little while ago, expecting it to turn out great and it did.  I love pasta, most of all I love ravioli, and this dish is AMAZING!  It has the perfect amount of sauce and cheese to it.  My family loved it so much that it was practically gone the next day.  So yummy!

I found this recipe on Pinterest  and you can find the original recipe there.

Ingredients:
1 (16-ounce) package cheese-filled ravioli
2 cups marinara sauce, homemade or store-bought
1/3 cup cream cheese, cubed
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup basil leaves, chiffonade

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350F.
While that’s heating up, place your ravioli into a pot of boiling water, and cook until the ravioli is tender, which is about three minutes.

In a separate sauce pan, combine the marinara sauce and cream cheese. Stir constantly until the cream cheese has melted.

Stir in the thyme and the parsley.

After than is cooked, pour the ravioli into a baking dish, and top it off with the marinara sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, and place into the oven for about 20 minutes.

Take it out and garnish with parmesan cheese and basil.

Enjoy!

Rimmel London Show off Lip Velvet Review:

A little while ago, I saw on tumblr that Jeffree star was coming out with a liquid to matte lipstick and I got really excited. It was such a different thing to me, and to be honest didn't even know it was a thing.  Then a lot of other brands started coming out with there own, all of them, out of my price range. Then, I saw that Rimmel London had their own and Rimmel London is in my price range. So I picked up three.

Originally, I had two, but I went to CVS and found another color that I wanted to try.   So far I have only seen five colors.

The colors are 505 Burning Lava, 307 Meteoric Matte, and 405 Orange-ology.

Now from what I've seen and heard liquid to matte lipsticks usually dry in a few minutes, with these, it took a long time. I want to say it took about 20 minutes or so to feel Dry and matte.  They also don't smell the same as the regular show off lip glosses.  They smell a bit more chemically.  But they do last a long time. I had mine on for four hours with drinking out of a water bottle that had a sippy nozzle.

My favorite was going to be Burning Lava until I found Orange-ology.  I have never owned an orange lipstick, so I went out of my comfort zone while buying it, and I actually really, really, love it on me!  Burning Lava reminds me of 107 and Meteoric Matte reminds me of 30.  (Both of which I have)  But I haven’t actually compared them next to each other yet.

So, if you want to try a liquid to matte lip gloss, and you can't really afford a higher end brand, go check these ones out.  Besides the waiting time, they're great!

Book Review: Vegetarian Weight Loss by Jonathan Vine

For a while now I've been thinking about becoming a vegetarian.  I already don't eat red meat or pork, so it wouldn't be that drastic of a change or at least that's what I think.  It obviously will be a BIG change for me, but I'd really like to try a little harder with my health.

Even though I had been thinking about, I didn't know much about the vegetarian diet.  To be honest I didn't even really know where to start. So, when I saw that I could get this ebook for free, I jumped on the opportunity.

In the introduction the author, Jonathan Vine, tells you all about the different types of vegetarians.  There is a section in the book dedicated to the health benefits of a vegetarian diet, and what foods to avoid to what foods to stock up on. But, this book isn't just about being a vegetarian, it's also about how to loose weight. He also mentions the health benefits of switching to all natural foods. Vine provides information of why being a vegetarian will help you loose weight and he also has provided 51 recipes for you to get started!  I haven't tried all of them, but I did pick out a few to try, and they're pretty good.

Now, if you're an experienced vegetarian, this ebook is not for you.  It has some really good information, but a lot of the recipes have eggs in them.  But if you're like me, and you want to become a vegetarian, but you have no idea where to start, this is a good push in the right direction.
