FOTD #22:

Happy Friday!  Today I am wearing a white shirt that has owls on the shoulder and the side (not that you can see that) that I got from Modcloth.  I really like the shirt, it fits perfectly, but it was a little short when I got it.  I could have managed but then I washed it, and it turned into a crop top.  Not really my style, so I usually wear a sweater over it.  The navy sweater is from Wal*mart.  I wear it constantly.

As for my face I am  wearing:

 Hard Candy eye shadow primer.
My concealer is Rimmel London Match Perfection in 125 Fair.
I filled in my eye brows with a light greyish/blackish eyeshadow that has no name.
My blush is Maybelline Mineral Power in Soft Mauve.
My bronzer is NYC Sun n' Bronze  in 706 Hamptons Raidance.
My mascara is L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black.
My eye shadow is Cargo Cosmetics Northern Lights the shade called Caspian Sea.
My lipstick is L'Oreal Paris Infallible 138 Forever Fuchsia.

Recipe: Sleep Smoothie

It's no secret that I have sleeping problems and I stumbled upon this health site (Superskinnyme) that has all different kinds of recipes, and the one that I'm sharing with you today is their Sleep Smoothie.

It says on their site that the reason why this smoothie should work is because all of the ingredients contain tryptophan, which is converted into melatonin or serotonin.  I know for a fact that melatonin supplements work on me, but this smoothie did not.  I even doubled the recipe, and nothing happened.   What I can tell you is that this smoothie is delicious. It has a nutty banana taste to it.  I plan on still drinking it, and if it does work for me in the future, I'll be sure to tell you.

I'm also planning on making some of their other smoothie recipes, so be on the look out for that!

Ingredients:
1 cup Almond Milk
1 Tbsp Almond Butter
1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
1/2 a Banana
1/4 cup Pitted Cherries
Ice.

Directions:

Combine the ingredients, blend, and serve.

Enjoy!

Wet n' Wild Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Review:

I'm going to tell you right now that I am terrible at applying liquid eyeliner.  I don't have a lot of practice with it, so I don't wear it, and without wearing it I don't get the practice I need.  So, I decided I needed to buy some and I needed to practice with it.  But to be honest, I don't usually put on make-up to lounge around the house, and I don't use liquid eyeliner for days that I leave the house.  So, I haven't used this much.  But the few times that I have decided to use this wet n' wild liquid eyeliner, I've liked it.

Now, when I read waterproof, I think "Alright, good.  It won't smear in the summer when I get sweaty. Or if it starts to rain, it will stay where it is."  and so far so good.  Water does not remove this eyeliner. Neither do my make-up wipes.  Not completely anyways.  This eyeliner stays, stays for days.  I've used oils, creams, and wipes, and I guess you could say most of it came off, but I could still tell I had eyeliner on.  Maybe if I use the combination of all of them?  Not sure.  It took a few showers to go back to normal.

The brush isn't a brush brush.  (Nice description, Ann.)  What I mean is that the last time I used liquid eyeliner, it was like a nail polish brush only really thin, and this one is more like a felt tip.  You would think that I would be okay with it, since i love felt tips, but I guess it's the liquid part that messes me up.

I need to start setting aside time to practice, because I love the way it sticks, to be honest, and I love the look of liquid eyeliner. But until then, I'll stick with felt tip/powder.

Do you have any tips?

Happy Friday!

Hello!  Happy Friday!

Man, where has the month gone?  I swear time is just disappearing on me. I didn't even know that Mardi Gras had passed!  The day I miss a holiday, is the day I've lost all sense of time.  Next thing I know it's going to be my 23rd birthday.  (No one likes you when you're 23!)  I'm all about holidays!

In the past two weeks I've managed to somehow, mess up my sleeping schedule yet again.  I'm quickly trying to fix it.  I sometimes wonder if all of this flip-flopping is hard on my body.  I really should look into that shouldn't I?  I've also started a new T.V. Series on Netflix.  Californication.  Some of it is funny, and then some of it is offensive.  I like the show, but I don't endless binge it like other shows.  I just really love David Duchovny.

I went out to dinner, as you know from Monday's post.  I went to Longhorn and let me tell you, there Parmesan chicken dinner is amazing!  I love it so much.  I get it ever time I go there.  I keep meaning to take pictures of my dinner outings and talking about them, and how good they are, but I just always forget.  So, until the future post about chicken, if you go to Longhorn, get the Parmesan chicken!  For my side I go with their mac & cheese.  Also delicious!  Very cheesy dinner.  I love it.  If you try it let me know!

I've also started on something that I've been wanting to do since high school, learn French.  I'm doing it on Duolingo, and it's a lot of fun.  Hard, but fun.  I'm currently on level 6.  I'm having a little bit of trouble with sentence structures, but I just need to work a harder on it.  Oh, and speaking it!  I am so bad at saying it out loud!

Have you learned another language? Do you have any tips?

Recipe: Baked Meatball Subs

I think I found this recipe on one of the sites I've liked on StumbleUpon.  I decided to make it because it looked easy and who doesn't like a meatball sub?  This recipe is supposed to make six, I believe, but my french bread didn't roll out right, and I could only manage three normal ones, and one really big one.  If you try this recipe, and have better luck, let me know!

Ingredients:
1 11 oz  Pillsbury French Bread can
1 cup Pizza Sauce
24 Cocktail Meatballs, Thawed
1 cup Mozzarella Cheese

Directions:

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees.
Pop open the French bread, and un-roll it.  Once you have it all rolled out, cut it in half, and then cut the half into three pieces.

Next add a tablespoon of pizza sauce, leaving some edging.

Top with four meatballs.

I had a hard time wrapping the sides together.

Add some cheese, and then close them up by stretching the bread over the meatballs and cheese.
Top with some more cheese, and if you prefer, some garlic salt.

Bake for 20 minutes, serve up with a side of pizza sauce for dipping.

Enjoy!

L'Oreal Infallible Lipstick Review:

This lipstick is called #138 Forever Fuchsia. I've had this lipstick for a while now.  I can't remember when I bought it exactly, but it's been a few months, and I absolutely love it.  I think the tube is cute and I love the color.  And man, does it have some staying power.  I wore this when I went out to dinner.  Ate everything from a salad to mac n' cheese, to chicken, and it stayed pretty well.  I mean as you can see it went from a deep fuchsia to a pink, but it's not as spotty and weird looking as some of my lipsticks get while out.

There is no strong scent to it.  I've never smelled it when applying, but when I twist it all the way out and smell it very, very, lightly sweet.  This is my only lipstick from L'Oreal, and as I'm writing this, I'm wondering why. The next time I go to the store, I'm definitely going to look at the other color selections.  This lipstick goes on smooth and isn't drying at all.  When I was out to dinner, I thought more was rubbing off than actual, but I think I feel that way with every lipstick.  I don't know.

Before dinner.
After dinner.
I know the lighting is different in the two photos, but it was night time in the second picture.

I think my only problem is that the tip of the lipstick is really small.  It's not what I'm used to.  .
I give this lipstick a 8 out of 10.  Love it!

FOTD 21:

Happy Friday y'all!  Today I am wearing one of my favorite sweaters that I got from, you guessed it, Khols.  It's a v-neck, long sleeved, perfect sweater.  I wear it constantly. I can't exactly remember how much it cost, but I think it was a little pricier than usual.

Also, in my hair is the Instanatural argan oil (More here).  I put a few drops in my hands, ran it through my hair, and then twisted it up into a bun.  I took the bun out a few hours later, and the curls stayed all night long.

As for on my face:
As always, I'm wearing Hard Candy eye shadow primer.
My concealer is Rimmel London Match Perfection in 125 Fair.
I filled in my eye brows with a light grayish/blackish eye shadow that has no name.
My mascara is L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black.
My blush is Estee Lauder 08 Peach Passion.
My eye shadow is Estee Lauder 33 Ivy Envy.
My lipstick is Wet n' wild 911D Stoplight Red.

Hope your week went well!

Recipe: Red Velvet Oreo Truffles

This is another recipe that I found in my local news paper that was being advertised for Valentine's Day.  I've made Oreo truffles before, here, but this recipe was a little bit different.  It uses less cream cheese.  But they're still really tasty, and simple to make.  Below I have the recipe that was in the newspaper, but I used an extra oz of cream cheese, and I had to used 2 extra oz of the white chocolate.

Ingredients:
18 Red Velvet Oreo Cookies
3 oz Philadelphia Cream Cheese
6 oz Baker's White Chocolate
2 oz Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Directions:

Crush up the red velvet Oreo's with the cream cheese.  It's easiest to use the back of a spoon.

Next roll the Oreo cream cheese mix into 20 1 in balls, and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Then put them into the freezer for 10 minutes.

While the balls are in the freezer, melt the white chocolate in the microwave.

Take the balls out of the freezer.  Roll one ball at a time in the white chocolate mix and place back onto the baking sheet.

When the white chocolate has firmed up, melt the 2 oz of semi-sweet chocolate, place in a plastic bag, cut the corner of the bag, and then drizzle the chocolate all over the balls.

Keep in the fridge until ready to eat.

Enjoy!

Wet n' Wild Lipstick Review:

Today I have two new Wet n' Wild lipsticks, that I am totally in love with!  I think about a year ago I reviewed two other Wet n' Wild lipsticks, and I said I didn't like them.  But since then I've really gotten into wearing lipstick regularly, and I've just adapted to their "difficulties."  I was really harsh to them, saying that I was worried that they weren't staying on and that the darker one stained the area around my lips.  I'm MUCH better with lipstick now, and I think the reason why I was so worried about it being down my face was because I wasn't careful with my mouth.  Plus I have this habit of rubbing my lips together.

Now, I'm not going to lie, it was advertised in the store that they lasted four hours, they don't.  I've gone out and had a few drinks and had to re-apply to where the straw had been on my lips, but other than that I really like these lipsticks.  I wear "Wine Room" all of the time, and ever since I bought it, I've been leaning towards "Stoplight Red" a lot.

Now, on to the actual colors in these pictures...The first is a lovely purple color called "Sugar Plum Fairy."  I really like the dark purple/ dark red lip look, but I'm still a litte shy.  They're not as true on my hand as they are on my lips so I'll post two pictures to my Instagram of me wearing them. (It's dark out, I can't snap pics yet.)  It's my second purple lipstick, and I love it!

The next color is called "Stoplight Red."  And as I said above, I've been reaching for it when ever I go out.  It's a very  bright red.  I'd call it a pure red, but my sister wouldn't.  I haven't noticed if it goes pink or not.  Some of my other lipsticks will turn more pink, but I think this red stays red.  Funny story (to me), I went out to dinner and wore this lipstick, and I usually, to be cautious, take my lipstick off with the napkin, but this place has cloth napkins, and I wasn't about to rub lipstick all over it.  So, I ate very cautiously, and it stuck pretty well.  But there was this older man staring at me the whole time.  I guess he thought I was eating funny, I don't really know.  But I can at least tell you, that if you're careful, this lipstick will stay on through dinner.  Haha.

Anyways, I'm sad that I gave such a bad review at first, Wet n' Wild lipsticks are amazing.  I love, love, love, them!

Recipe: Hershey Truffles

Today's recipe is one that I got out of my local newspaper! It's pretty easy, but you need a little bit more time if you want to make them.  They are really tasty and perfect for Valentine's Day! (Which is what they were advertised for.)  The recipe below makes 10.

Ingredients:
28 Milk Chocolate Hershey Kisses
10 Caramel Hershey Kisses
2 Tbsp & 2 tsp Heavy Whipping Cream
1 cup Ground Pecans

Directions:

Put the 28 milk chocolate Hershey kisses into a microwave safe bowl.  Add in the 2 Tbsp & 2 tsp of heavy whipping cream.

Put your microwave at 50% power and melt the chocolate milk mix for 1 minute, or until smooth.

Then put it in the fridge for 4 to 6 hours, or until firm.  ( I let the chocolate set over night, but I'm sure 4 hours is plenty of time. )
Just a caution, use exactly that much milk, I went a little over and it wouldn't firm up properly.  If you do use too much milk, add in a few extra kisses.

Put 1 cup of pecans into a bowl.

After your chocolate is firm, take about a tablespoon flatten it out a bit, and then wrap it around one of the caramel kisses.

Then roll it into a ball, roll it in the pecans, and place on a plate.

Keep them in the fridge until you're ready to serve them up.

Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Good Morning!  It is still the morning right?  Yeah, almost 11 am, but whatever!

So, as you can see I've  been slacking.  I didn't get out a recipe post on Wednesday or even on Thursday like I said I would on Twitter.  So, I'm going to have one come out tomorrow.  I don't normally post on the weekends, but I have two dessert recipes that I want to get out before Valentine's Day.  They're both centered around that day.

My week has been boring.  I haven't been feeling well and I'm not really sure why.  I've been watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix, and it's actually pretty good.  I didn't think that I was going to like it, but I do!  I'm almost done with season 8, which makes me kind of sad, but I'll find another series to watch.  Do you have an recommendations?  Let me know!

I'm also finally on the fifth Harry Potter book.  It took me a little while to read the fourth one.  I don't really know why, but I just didn't pick up the book as much.  I think it has something to do with me taking a break in between books.  The fourth book hadn't arrived when I finished the third so I had to go on and read two other books.  They threw me off my Harry Potter game.  Haha.

I've decided to try out some of the things that came with my computer, including a calendar.  I usually use a paper one, but I haven't been out to buy one, and this one is right here.  It says that it syncs to something, I don't know what that means, but I'll figure it out.  I guess it's a neat little feature...I'll get back to you on that!

I hope your week was better than mine!  Check back for that recipe tomorrow!

theBalm 'Read My Lips' Lip Gloss Review:

We all know that Khols is my favorite store.  It has a little bit of everything, including make-up.  A little while ago, I was in the store, and I saw some really cute lip glosses. Their packaging is super cute.  I liked so many of the colors, but I decided to go with Zaap! because it seemed like one that I could pair with my everyday.  Zaap!  is a nice pink color with a little bit of shimmer to it, but I've never really noticed the shimmer while wearing it.  It's pretty long lasting for a lip gloss and it's not very sticky.  It feels a little heavy when first applied, but the longer you wear it, the more normal it feels.  Almost like there is nothing there.  Looking up the lip gloss online, they're picture is not very true to color.  So, if you're interested, see if you can go into a store and swatch them yourselves.

I paid $15.00 for this one tube of lip gloss, which I feel is a little pricy, but it is a nice product. The box is really cute, and I know other products from this line are very nice.  The tube itself is plastic, and the top of the applicator is actually metal.  The gloss itself smells very fruity. I love it, but I know some don't.
Like I said above, I use this lip gloss as a go to when I'm just throwing on some make-up to go out to dinner.  Lip gloss doesn't look as bad rubbed off as lipstick would after eating.  In the future I plan on buying a few other colors.

Have you ever thought about theBalm make-up line?  Let me know what you've tried!
xx

I am wearing this lip gloss in this FOTD.
